Why breastfeed? Your reasons probably include health, bonding, and convenience, and these may well be the most important ones. But, did you know that you’re saving your family a bundle by breastfeeding your infant for the first year? That’s right, according to the latest edition of Pregnancy & Newborn magazine, formula costs approximately $120 per month for the first few months of baby’s life. “After starting solids, the cost can reduce to half of that, about $60 – but you’re still looking at close to $1000 the first year in formula alone, and that’s not counting the cost of the bottles themselves” (page 66).
Wow! Remember that next time you find yourself restlessly making a mental to-do list while you sit feeding baby. Oh, and I guess that means you can indulge in that nursing bra without feeling a bit of guilt 🙂
